The Friday Whine is a casual blog and contains three things: An ethics update, a legal profession update, and wine recommendation. If you see text in blue, it is a link to an article or information.
Ethics
This Guy
Well-known DUI lawyer in New Jersey arrested for possession of drugs after running into someone’s house with….high heels and….no pants.
Nothing else to say. The least of his problems is what the Bar is going to do to him. The internet is going to slaughter him for this “pantless rampage.”
Legal Profession
Parking Ticket Justice
A couple weeks ago I was chided for setting my own parking ticket for trial instead of paying the $18 fine. The reason I proceeded to trial, and won (and yes, the cop showed up) is because I wasn’t guilty. I paid the parking fare, the cop didn’t see it in his little machine thing, and the power of a receipt won out the day.
But I am no match for Chicago attorney Todd Kooperman, another lawyer fighting the parking ticket machine, on principle.
Todd thinks a portion of the $16 million dollars in fines given out in Chicago for parking where they are cleaning the streets, may be unconstitutional. If he wins, the city may have to issue refunds.
I’m with Todd. I may even create a hashtag. #imwithtodd. We should all be #withtodd
Wine
Ugh, Thanksgiving Wine, Part II
A second reminder that the “what wine goes with” discussion is prohibited here. The wine you should drink at Thanksgiving is the wine you like.
Let’s talk reds.
Again, drink what you want, but while you’re stuffing your face with all kinds of food, I’d stay away from big heavy red wines like Syrah and Cabernet blends. If you want to taste your food, stick with Pinot and Beaujolais, and of course my favorite, Zinfandel.
Cheap Zinfandel is not good. A really good Zinfandel goes for $35-45 a bottle. For $19.99, you can’t get better than Seghesio Zinfandel. It’s a great wine, and will well-compliment your Thanksgiving dinner.
Have a good weekend.
Until the week after Thanksgiving…
