The Friday Whine is a casual blog and contains three things: An ethics update, a legal profession update, and wine recommendation. If you see text in blue, it is a link to an article or information.
Ethics
David Boies
Bloomberg has a very lengthy, but great article on the career of David Boies of Boies Schiller, who is currently facing questions about his ethics surrounding his representation of Harvey Weinstein.
Legal Profession
Roman J. Israel, Esq. is a movie that will cause you to think about the soul of a lawyer. It’s not a terribly exciting movie, and definitely not a comedy. If you’re looking for that fun Christmas movie, skip it. It’s a dark look at the legal profession. If you want to think about what it means to be a lawyer, go see it. It will get you thinking about the essence of being a lawyer.
Wine
Gifting Wine, Part II
These are my top 5 picks for a bottle to give in the next few weeks:
2015 Biale Black Chicken Zinfandel – available at Wolfe’s Wine Shoppe in Coral Gables. One of my favorite zinfandels
Pommery Brut Rose – Pommery is not a Champagne that a lot of people know, but it’s great. Available at Sunset Corners
Latour Pouilly Fuisse – A great French Chardonnay. Available at Total Wine for under $20.
Chateau Montelena 2012 Estate Cabernet – yes, it’s $150 a bottle (you may find it cheaper somewhere online. It’s a “wow, thank you” wine. If you’re looking for that, this is one of those bottles.
Novellum Chardonnay – back to planet earth, this wine is under $14 at Wolfes. It’s outstanding.
