MIAMI, FL- September 15, 2022- Bast Amron is proud to announce Jaime Leggett has been appointed as the Co-Chair of the Florida Bar Business Law Section UCC Article 12 Secured Digital Assets Task Force. A joint committee task force has been established for reviewing, commenting on, and potentially proposing new legislation for creditors to lien and register their security interests on cryptocurrency, non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and other blockchain systems representing stores of monetary value. The new task force, UCC Article 12 – Secured Transactions for Digital Assets, is a combined effort with the Blockchain & Digital Assets Committee and the UCC/Bankruptcy Committee of the Business Law Section. In July, the Uniform Laws Committee proposed adding a new UCC Article 12 to the model Uniform Commercial Code. The principle revisions to Florida Law effect Fla. Stat. 679.1011, Secured Transactions (generally similar to UCC Article 9).
About Jaime Leggett
Jaime Leggett practices in the areas of bankruptcy and complex commercial litigation. His experience includes investigating and prosecuting director and officer liability claims; representing trustees, creditors, equity holders, and debtors in bankruptcy proceedings; federal and state court commercial litigation; and trials in federal, bankruptcy, and state courts nationwide.
Prior to joining the firm, Jaime worked for a firm in New York City handling complex commercial and bankruptcy litigation. Previously to that firm, Jaime served as a law clerk to U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Allan Gropper of the Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of New York and U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Arthur Weissbrodt of the Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California.
