MIAMI, FL- May 18, 2022- Bast Amron is proud to announce that Peter Klock has been re-appointed to the Florida Bar’s Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee, on which he serves as the Co-Chair of the Voluntary Bar Associations Liaison Subcommittee as well as the JNPC’s liaison to the Judicial Nominating Commission for the 3rd District Court of Appeal.
About the Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee:
The Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee’s scope and function are to assist the Governor and the judicial nominating commissions in discharging their respective duties under Article V, Section 11, of the Florida Constitution.
The committee offers assistance to the Governor with organizing and presenting an annual training program for all JNC commissioners. The training program provides authoritative information on the subject of judicial selection and the judicial nominating process. It also constitutes a forum for the mutual exchange of information by commissioners.
About Peter Klock: Peter practices in the area of complex business litigation, with an emphasis on commercial disputes and the prosecution of director, officer, and fiduciary liability claims. He serves as outside general counsel and advises corporate clients regarding compliance with state, national, and international data privacy laws, including various state data protection and breach notification statutes, the Federal Trade Commission Act, and the General Data Protection Regulation. Peter also negotiates and drafts vendor agreements, master services agreements, statements of work, and service level agreements on behalf of corporate clients in the technology sector, and actively supports our community by representing, pro bono, a minor in Florida’s juvenile dependency courts, serving on committees dedicated to enhancing the practice of law in the state of Florida, and mentoring law students and young attorneys. Peter is a holder of the Certified Information Privacy Professional designation from the International Association of Privacy Professionals, was named as a Rising Star by Florida Super Lawyers Magazine in 2019, 2020, 2021, and 2022, among Best Lawyers Ones To Watch for Commercial Litigation in 2022, and among Florida Trend’s Legal Elite for 2020 and 2021.
Before joining Bast Amron, Peter served as a career judicial law clerk to the Honorable James Lawrence King in the Southern District of Florida. In that role, he drafted numerous published opinions and enjoyed primary responsibility for all aspects of the odd-numbered civil and criminal cases on Judge King’s docket, as well as a multi-district litigation matter involving over thirty national banks, In re: Checking Account Overdraft Litigation, MDL No. 2036. Peter’s extensive experience working with the Court has given him a unique insight into federal courtroom procedure, effective legal argumentation, and efficient use of motions and pleadings.
Peter also gained experience at every stage of the litigation process while representing clients in complex civil litigation prior to his clerkship, and he has accrued significant experience drafting appellate briefs in criminal matters in Florida’s Circuit Courts and District Courts of Appeal through his pro bono work on behalf of indigent defendants.
